Rik Pierce Workshop - New Zealand March 2013

Rik will be visiting the southern hemisphere next year to run his Fair Rosamund's Bower workshop.  With the cost of shipping being what it is, he was concerned about getting his display house to this part of the world.  The Australian organiser of the workshop got a kit sent out and asked me to put it together for the event and I wanted to share the end result with you.  I'm quite happy with it and I hope the master will be too!!

This finished house will end up in someone else's possession but I will be getting a kit for myself and then I can make all the alterations I would like!  I am so glad I had the opportunity to work on this project.

    1. Sorry - I obviously didn't make myself very clear...this is my take on it. I've just finished all the work on it and it will be on it's way to the Gold Coast (Qld) shortly and then on to New Zealand. Hugs - Lidi

  5. I think she meant that when you get the kit for yourself (not this sample house for the class) she interested to see what you may do differently. Still it IS a lovely project. Rik is so very clever!

  10. Wonderful job, I have only done paperclay once so far and I really liked it. I still have not figured out how to get over the fact that mine left gaps after it dried. Any suggestions? I would love to take one of His class's, maybe one day. Though I live in Canada, and I dont think he comes here?

    1. Paperclay does shrink occasionally depending on drying conditions at the time but it is also very forgiving and easy to fix. Just get a little paper clay and fill in the offending gaps and it's done. Once painted, you will never know there was a problem! Hugs - Lidi

  18. Hello Lidi,
Lovely baskets! I have not done any paperclay and I had not heard of art. Maybe you could make a tutorial I sure would like to learn that craft. Your baskets are great.
    Many hugs and kisses, conny

  19. Hi Lidi,

thank you for joining my blog lately - that gave me the chance to find yours! Your baskets are breathtaking - and I'm convinced "the master" will love how you brought his house-kit to life. I didn't even know there are kits available of him - well, still so much to learn... - and so much to put on my wishlist if I'll ever win in the lottery... ;O)

    Greetings from Germany

    1. Hi Birgit - welcome to my humble blog and thanks for your kind comments about the baskets! I don't think Rik actually sells his creations as kits - I got this one to do for the NZ workshop and let me tell you it was fun. However, you could always try and ask him because he is a very obliging gentleman - you never know your luck in a big city!! Cheers - Lidi

  20. Hi Lidi, I just love your rendition of Rik's project, how I would like to do the class with him. I have never used paperclay or built any kind of dolls house and am yet too nervous to begin the lighting for my poor Petit Parterre. As someone else suggested, a tutorial in paperclay use would be really helpful. I would love to build this kit too, I must put my thinking cap on.

  21. Also Lidi, Just to let you know it took ages for your blog to load on my computer, we have mobile broadband. Perhaps you could reduce the number of posts that appear on your page, I think there are sixteen at the moment. I don't know if anyone else has had problems accessing your blog. Just a suggestion. And your new colourful baskets are great, Spring is definitely in the air.
