A new basket!

Where has 2016 gone!?  I seem to have been immersed in this haze of making baskets as fast as I can and all of a sudden we're almost half way through the year!  My last show was Sydney at the beginning of this month and what a fabulous show it was for me.  I came home almost empty handed and now I'm back on the whirly-gig of making.  I have decided not to trade at any more shows this year as now I am in work mode for the Tom Bishop Show in Chicago in 2017.  It has been on my bucket list for some time now - but now it means I have to work twice as hard!!

I was recently asked to do a commission - and the first photo is the full size version.  It is a French vintage picnic basket and looks amazing!

It took me days to sort out - but I got it in the end - and was very happy with the results.  The following pics are of my 1:12th replica.

I was really happy with the results!

  1. WOW! It is just perfect. I wonder if it was so hard to make that you won't make another one. I LOVE IT!

  3. Goodness me! Another masterpiece. I showed your work to a woman who used to do 1:1 basketwork and like the rest of us, she was amazed at your detail. She shuddered to think how long each piece would take you because in full size she said they would take days!
    Gorgeous basket. Mini hug, Carol

  5. How practical those French people are! The extra space alloted for carrying not one but 2 BOTTLES of wine, makes a lot more sense than them taking up valuable space inside the basket or having your hands full and trying to awkwardly carry them some other way.
NOW let's get this party started! :D
